Chapter 16: Female Corpse

Li Si felt a chill down his spine, but pretended as if nothing had happened and continued eating. However, with a thought in his mind, the Beheaded Ghost appeared in the room.

When the Beheaded Ghost appeared, Li Si immediately felt more at ease and gained a sense of security.

After giving the Beheaded Ghost an order to follow him, Li Si gritted his teeth, suddenly stood up, and strode to the door in a few big steps. He opened the door and looked sharply towards the wall.

“Clear a path for me,” Li Si commanded the Beheaded Ghost beside him.

Hearing Li Si’s order, the Beheaded Ghost extended its tongue, coiled and twisted around the branches, moving them aside and leaving a normal passage.

“This guy is more useful than a chopping knife. In the future, I might as well use him as a chopping knife when going to the mountains,” a thought popped into Li Si’s mind. Then he imagined himself walking in the mountains, with the Beheaded Ghost’s tongue curling and sweeping away obstacles in front.

Li Si shuddered. The image was too vivid to imagine. Shaking his head, he cleared away these stray thoughts and walked into the Blue Flower Courtyard.

Entering the Blue Flower Courtyard, he saw that the layout was similar to the Small Bamboo Courtyard, except that opposite the stone table, on the other side of the small path, there was a well.

“It seems this well is the one Landlord Zhang’s former wife jumped into,” Li Si thought to himself, while also becoming more alert as he slowly walked towards the well.

Approaching the well, he found that this haunted well looked no different from ordinary wells. It wasn’t deep, just a normal household well. Leaning in to look down, by the remaining light of the setting sun, he saw clear, rippling well water and graceful water plants in the deep water.

Water plants?! Li Si looked closely. These water plants were slender and beautiful. He drew in a sharp breath – these weren’t water plants at all! They were clearly human hair.

At this moment, suddenly a pair of cold, slender hands touched his waist. Before he could react, he felt a strong push on his back.

“Ah!” Li Si was shocked and fell into the water. As he fell, he seemed to hear a miserable roar.

“Splash!” Water splashed on the surface.

“Kill her!” Li Si gave an order to the Beheaded Ghost as he fell into the water.

Li Si reached the bottom of the well, passing through the well water. He reached the place with the hair and finally saw the pale, bloated face beneath the hair. So he ordered the Beheaded Ghost not to pull him up yet. He touched the cold tongue with his hand and found it was actually soft. His raised heart settled down, and he gave the Beheaded Ghost the order to pull him up.

As the tongue pulled him up, Li Si began to feel the lack of oxygen in his lungs. He told the Beheaded Ghost to speed up.

Halfway up, Li Si felt something entangling his ankle. He looked down but couldn’t see anything from his angle.

He didn’t hesitate and told the Beheaded Ghost to increase its strength. Li Si began to feel as if something heavy was attached to his leg.

“Could it be the female corpse’s hair wrapped around my leg?” Li Si had a sudden thought, feeling a bit nervous and chilled all over.

Li Si crawled over the well’s edge and fell onto solid ground, suddenly feeling much lighter. However, at this moment he felt something off about the sensation under his feet. He discovered black hair entangled in his wet trousers, and his foot was stepping on a pale scalp.
